What is an IoT SIM card used for?
With an IoT (Internet of Things) SIM card, it becomes possible to connect devices to the internet so they can communicate with each other and with other devices or systems.
IoT SIM cards are used in countless machines that, with internet access, can automatically report usage or service needs.
With an IoT SIM card, it is also possible to track vehicles or cargo, control your washing machine via your mobile phone, or receive notifications that a machine needs to be refilled or emptied.
IoT SIM cards have a different pricing structure, as they are designed for the purpose they are used for — i.e. low usage with significantly less data and almost no voice consumption — and can therefore be provided at a better price.
How can I order an IoT SIM card?
IoT SIM cards are ordered via www.my.dstny.dk, where it is also possible to modify and cancel subscriptions. SIM cards are delivered in bundles of 10.
SIM-kort bestillingsfunktionen findes via menupunktet "Telefoni" i sidemenuen, og derefter
"IoT Abonnementer". Øverst i højre hjørne på denne side er det muligt at "Bestille tomme SIM-kort".
Please note that ordering IoT SIM cards and activating IoT subscriptions requires that your Key Account Manager has added the subscriptions to your agreement, after which they become available to you at www.my.dstny.dk
How do I create a subscription on my new SIM card?
Open the side menu at www.my.dstny.dk and press "Telephony", then press "IoT subscriptions".
Click "Activate SIM card" in the top right corner and follow the ordering process.
Can IoT numbers be ported?
No, this is not possible.
Which IoT subscriptions can be ordered?
The following IoT subscriptions are available to order:
- IoT abonnement - 100 MB
- IoT abonnement - 500 MB
- IoT abonnement - 1000 MB
- IoT abonnement - 2000 MB
The above IoT packages include the stated data allowance.
Voice usage, SMS, and MMS in Denmark are charged in addition at the following rates:
- DKK 0.25 per SMS
- DKK 0.25 per MB data
- DKK 2.50 per minute
Please note that IoT SIM cards do not include voicemail, and that excess data usage on an IoT subscription can add up, as IoT devices often use a small but continuous amount of data.
Speed throttling is not available on these subscriptions.
Can both voice and data be used with an IoT SIM card?
An IoT SIM card can be used for voice, data, SMS, and MMS.
The SIM card is not intended as a card to make calls from, but it can make calls — for example, it can be used in alarm systems and similar devices that need to make outgoing calls.
Can you top up your data package on IoT?
No, automatic top-up of the data package is not offered on IoT subscriptions.
Usage beyond the package is charged per consumption and speed throttling is not available.
Please also note that it is not possible to block data usage.
Which networks can the SIM cards be used on?
On the TDC network, national access is available to:
- 2G
- NB-IoT
- CAT-M
- 4G
- 5G
Subject to ongoing network changes made in connection with optimisation.
Is API access available?
No, unfortunately this is not possible.
Can an IoT SIM card be used abroad?
Yes, an IoT SIM card can be used abroad, however for a maximum of 30 consecutive days at a time.
Abroad, the SIM card can also be used for voice, data, SMS, and MMS, just as in Denmark.
Please note that roaming must be actively enabled in www.my.dstny.dk before it is possible to roam with an IoT SIM card.
In other cases, the SIM card may not be able to access the given roaming operator again.
Roaming agreements are currently in place with the following countries where SIM cards can be used:
- Albania
- Andorra
- Aruba
- Austria
- Belgium
- Brazil

How do I cancel an IoT subscription?
IoT subscriptions are cancelled via www.my.dstny.dk
The notice period for an IoT subscription is the current month.
